Kesshare is where she wants to be, at court with her aunt and uncle and cousins instead of back at home with her other aunts and uncles and cousins.

Her father’s family never wanted her anyway. Especially her father. He thought she never noticed, but she’s smarter than he ever was.

And if she’s a little afraid the first night--or if some tiny part of her resents that she was sent away from everything she ever knew…

That doesn’t matter. In the morning, she’ll start to carve out her place here.

Because she’s exactly where she wants to be.
