'I don't know, Viktoire," Leah says, chewing on her lower lip. She's lying flat on her back in the middle of Viktoire's apartment, staring out the skylight so she doesn't have to look at her friend. "It's not that I don't like you, but..."

"But you don't know if you want to make a commitment," Viktoire replies, tapping her spoon on the edge of her mug to shake off the coffee. "That's fine."

Leah turns her head and arches an eyebrow at her. "Seriously?"

"Seriously." Viktoire smiles at her. "I like you too. I'd like to be serious with you. But I'm not in any hurry and I don't mind taking it slow." She sets her mug down and stretches, her shirt riding up to show a pale strip of stomach. "Besides, I just got out of a serious relationship. It'll be nice to keep things easy for a while."

"Huh." Leah turns her head back and watches the clouds move above her. "Well, okay. That sounds nice. So we'll just... date? Non-exclusively?"

"Sure. And if either of us decides we want out, that can be it. No hard feelings."

Leah's not sure the no-hard-feelings thing will really stick, but there's no harm in trying. "Okay," she says again. "Yeah. Let's give it a try."

"Great." She can hear the smile in Viktoire's voice. "Now tell me what you see."
