Skylight 11, Cool Black 7: The Only Life That Matters

Story: Shine Like It Does
Colors: Skylight 11 (Never a dull moment), cool black 7 (yesterday is dead and gone and tomorrow's out of sight)
Supplies and Materials: Graffiti (Lilith Faire Second Stage: Come On Kids, Tegan and Sara), beading wire (A guy playing a trumpet out the window of a car), novelty beads (thymos)
Word Count: 262
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Jack and his friends.
Warning: minor language, drug use, mentioned underage sex.

Jack hangs out the side of Arnie's car, blowing Egg's trumpet with every gasp of air in his lungs. It blats out shrieking off-key wheezes and every so often a loud, wet fart, which always makes him fall back into the passenger seat, giggling madly. He's not high... okay, he's a little high but not like everyone else in the car, he only had half a pill and he's mostly high off the ocean breeze and the way his friends laugh against the crackling midnight radio.

Mariposa's mostly sober so she's driving, Carmen leaning forward to wrap her arms around Mariposa's shouders and kiss her neck. Arnie and Spence are making out in the back seat, maybe even fucking, and Egg's in the passenger seat so Jack keeps falling back into his lap, falling back and catching his friend's mouth for a quick hard kiss before he's back out the window, blowing the trumpet, laughing at the shaken fists and shouted curses. It's only midnight, why are they all asleep?

Life's too short. He knows that intimately. He's just seventeen and by his age his uncle was eight months dead. There's no point in putting anything off, not when you can kiss your friends and play a shitty trumpet solo and shriek-sing along when your favorite song comes on the radio.

He doesn't know where they're going, he and his friends. He doesn't even know if they'll make it there. But he's sure they'll have a good time getting there, and that's all that matters.

It's the only thing that ever matters.

A simultaneously great and terrible plan!
