Claire opened her eyes with a soft sigh. She summoned a few shadows to get her some food as she sat up in bed. It was five days since she left Seth with the Winchesters. Five days since her meltdown and in those days, she didn’t leave the bed. She made sure to eat and get some water, but she didn’t leave. Claire sighed and wiped her eyes, trying to fight the ache of not seeing Axel’s smile or hear his laugh.

A fresh wave of tears rolled down her cheeks as she tried to wipe the away. Claire took a breath and moved to the bathroom. She hoped a bath would help her relax. Claire sat on the edge of the tub and watched it fill up with water.

I have to work through this. I need to be strong for Seth. I have so many things to finish and begin, I don’t even know where to start. She sighed and dragged her claws along the water, watching the ripples that followed. I have to clean up the house, check on Seth, and possibly drown my sorrows in more food.

Claire swallowed the lump in her throat as she stepped in the tub. She didn’t bother to pull her hair up since she had to wash it. She leaned back against the tub, staring blankly at the wall in front of her. There were too many things to do, too many people to please, and too many papers to sign. She had a little boy who counted on her and a city that lost their leader.

Claire slid further down in the tub. It’s too much. I can’t…I can’t… She disappeared under the water the ache in her chest growing with each memory. She closed her eyes and couldn’t feel anything. All her problems seemed far away and it felt good.

Claire fought the urge for air. She wished she were a Water Demon, so she could stay in the water all day. However, she didn’t expect someone to pull her up.

“WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?”

Claire gasped as air filled her burning lungs once again. She opened her eyes and gasped at the person in front of her.

“D-Daisuke?” She rasped.

“Yes, it’s me. I was told by many people to check on you and I’m glad I did. What did you think you were doing? Where’s Seth?” Daisuke snapped.

“He’s with the Winchesters. He’s safe.” Claire whispered. Her eyes not meeting Daisuke’s just yet.

Daisuke narrowed his eyes and pulled Claire out of the tub. Claire weakly hit his shoulder. “I’m not done with my bath.”

“It didn’t look like a bath. It looked like you were trying to sleep underwater.”

“…”

“Take a shower and wash your hair. I’m going to clean up your house while you do this.” Daisuke called up a shadow. “I’m leaving this here, in case you decide to sleep again.” He reached over and drained the tub. He started the shower, checked the water, and nudged Claire inside.

“I won’t be far. I’ll still be here. Come into the kitchen when you’re finished.” Daisuke shook his head and walked out the bathroom.

I didn’t expect him to be here. Why is he here? Claire frowned as she grabbed her washcloth.

Daisuke had some questions to answer.
