Note(s): These are Elisabeth's parents. I've written about them before (a lot lol) but this is the first time I'm writing about them in a while.
“If it would please you Lady Anna, I would really like to be your lover.”
She tried to hide her smirk but wasn’t succeeding.
She knew how the King operated. She had studied him from afar and for far longer than she cared to admit. She had made herself appeal to his senses. Worn the perfume that he liked. Had made sure her figure was enticing. All for this moment.
And now?
She didn’t want to be his mistress. Just for him to throw her away when he tired of her.
“Sir. Thought it pleases me. I cannot be yours.”
He blinked. The King opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. She had done it. She had confounded the man.
“If you’ll excuse me, my lord.”
He reached out and stopped her with a touch of his hand.
“Lady Anna. Have I offended your virtue?”
She kept her face blank. Her virtue? What virtue?! She had little virtue left but let him think that she did! It was easier that way.
She lowered her head and moved past him. This time he did not stop her.
