There aren't any fireworks. Morgan feels like there should be fireworks, but there aren't. There's just Paige, smiling at zir, standing on her tiptoes and waving like Morgan didn't clock her the second zie stepped off the bus. The dark-haired kid holding the sign is probably Kayleigh, then, and Morgan's sure zie'll think she's cute once zie's done staring at Paige, but.... Paige.
Paige, whose smile is so much brighter in person. Paige, bouncing on her feet like a child. Paige, whose ponytail looks so soft Morgan can't wait to touch it.
Zie may never be done looking at Paige.
