The girls grow up with Brandili and Akadine giving them lots of lessons. Urdasvale has a 'village to raise a child' mentality so a lot of kids spend a few days a week with someone with specialties that seem to keep their interest. I don't know that Brandili teaches martial or competitive physical sports, but she probably teaches horse handling and hunting, and she and Akadine will give some training to young adults and up on those topics.

They're both shit with magic, which is what the town is best known for to those who don't get the totally queer undercurrents of the people who've mostly moved up for good, so they're not as renowned, but folks appreciate their areas of prowess for different reasons... so Anahi gets a lot of pride in her homeland, eventually, along with the language and some of the traditional pastimes of nobility, and Vi gets a lot of the talk about horse-husbandry because she eventually becomes a horse-obsessed preteen with fantasies of traveling all over the unexplored parts of the world with a trusty steed, righting wrongs and being some kind of mystical judge of the land. (Both moms blame Boyce for that, it being in her blood, or her sap as it were.)
