Vor woke early, the morning after Mel first stayed the night. The sun was just rising, outlining Mel's features in gentle, golden light; softening planes and angles that were still a little too sharp after his captivity.
Briefly, he thought about waking him, but Mel looked so calm and beautiful and unafraid like this. And Vor was just...glad that, even after everything Mel had suffered, he could have this moment of peace. Even more, that he could give it to him.
Mel would wake on his own soon enough, Vor decided. Better to just settle back and enjoy the moment.
