"Come on!" Taz yelled, scrambling up the rigging for a better vantage as wind and water and sparks and arrows swirled around her. "With me, boys, we'll take 'em yet!"
So what if it was her first engagement, her first actual combat as an actual captain with an actual ship of her own. She knew she and her crew could do this. She wasn't the first Captain in her line in generations for nothing. She was going places.
Starting, of course, with this first, shining victory, right out the gate.
:Taz, behind!:
She spun at her sea-wolf's call, an arrow missing her narrowly enough to tear her sleeve, and she saw her way through the scrum and out the other side.
:Hold the deck, darlin',: she said. :We're gonna win this yet.:

Taz twirled her sword in her hand, the ocean at her back and her partner holding her line.
She had never felt freer, or more alive.
"Come and get me," she said, then launched herself into the fray.
