Title: house|
Characters/Pairing: Marcus. family
Rating:pg
Disclaimer:
Word Count:223
A/N:prmpt 3. of table. Weimar!verse.I have not written anything for this verse in two years. I call it a verse but I hope that filling the prompts may one day produce a book so...getting back in the saddle is a big deal. group
Summery: The house is falling apart but it is still home.
The house is falling apart. That is the first thing that he sees. It is a good thing. Many would say it is not but it is. It gives him something to focus on that is not the war and the shelling and the screams of other soldiers. Marcus nods to himself and starts thinking of ways to improve things as he walks up the path. It means he does not need to think of how to explain why he lost he war and why everyone is starving and dying from flu.
He does not expect the bang of the door and his sister running into his arms with tears in her eyes. He expects her to hit him and hate him. Instead she ushers him inside and covers him with an old blanket and throws what they have left into a pot to make something resembling food.
She does not talk about the war or the house that is falling down around them. She does not talk about the parents she buried in the back garden in 1916. She cooks and talks about the factory in town that the allies have no taken the equipment from. She talks about how she thinks the potatoes might just make it this year.
She only talks about the tomorrow they have a chance to see.
