Yeah, the whole situation is one that got kind of borked like mad. He doesn't even have a name to himself, he thinks of himself as the Tall Man because it's what Teddy used to think of him as when he was a tiny thing (and not utterly terrified of him). He was a force rather than a creature with sentience and he only got sentience because he was shaping himself around Teddy and trying to be helpful.

It's all very weird and I'm learning about it as I go. But yes.
