Afterwards, when it was all over and all the bodies buried, the three Hennessy siblings sat together in the castle's sitting room and talked it over. All of it, beginning to end-- all the fights, the harsh words, the things said and done that had come between them. And after that, when they'd forgiven each other and sat hand in hand, Jack asked, quietly, "Do you regret it?"

Miranda shook her head, but it was Charlotte who spoke. "No," she said. "Not at all. He had to die."

"Good," Jack said, and they smiled at each other, dark-eyed mirror images.
