Notes: *peaks head out and waves* Hello! Man, it's been far too long since I posted on here and I'm going to try and change that. I'm tired of seeing all these unfinished prompts and stories on my hard drive so I'm going to be working on them and posting them more. Enjoy! I still have some catching up to do XD

Claire sat in her kitchen and looked around at the bustling scene around her. Her mom, Miranda, making breakfast while her brother, Mark, played with Seth. Daisuke sat next to her flipping through some papers of the day while her dad, Carl, talked about something he saw on the news. Then her brothers Franklin and Greg were coming over with their families to help her look for a new house, clean out her closet, and stay home with Seth whenever she ran errands.

Claire couldn’t remember the last time she felt so calm. The noise kept her out of her head and helped her control the shadows that flew around the house looking for their lost master. At night she didn’t feel so alone with Daisuke by her side and her family around the corner. She thought it was better to try and push them away until she worked through her grief, but having them around made her feel better.

Claire always thought she disappointed them with the way she used to act. She thought that they didn’t want her around. While she contacted her family there were some things in her life she didn’t tell them about for worry that she would get the same lectures she received when she was younger. When her parents eased up after she married Axel, she thought they were nice to him out of politeness, not that they actually cared. Her feelings changed when she saw how sad they were when she broke the news of his death to them. Then there was the way they came together to help out Axel’s family and worked together made her happy to see.

Claire smiled as she wiped a tear off her cheek.

It looked like Axel was part of the family all along.
