White 8, Hills of Iowa 8: Gifts
Author: Kat
Title: Gifts
Story: In the Heart
Colors: White 8 (whitewashed), hills of Iowa 8 (I was out here listening all the time.)
Supplies and Materials: Pastels (this challenge, Secret Santa gift exchange), miniature collection, bichromatic, seed beads, oils (black is the new black), modeling clay (Is there a writer who inspires you?).
Word Count: 300
Rating: PG
Summary: How could Lorraine help herself>
Warnings: adultery and some domestic emotional abuse
Notes: Last bichromatic!
Lorraine met Adam for the first time at a company party. He'd got her in the Secret Santa exchange, and he brought her a glass of champagne and her gift.
And it was perfect. She'd been feeling nervous and out of place, and the champagne and his smile helped ease that. He talked to her, gave every indication of enjoying her company, and that helped even more. Then the gift-- he'd bought her a book of poetry, one he said inspired him, and she loved poetry and he was so handsome.
She went home with him. She couldn't help it.
--
Much later, he bought her another gift, to appease her. She was angry with him, claiming some petty reason but really because he was still married. After all his promises, all his words, he still hadn't left his wife, and Lorraine was beginning to think he didn't intend to.
But then he brought her the box, and she was like a child at Christmas with gifts; she ripped it open, and gasped.
Such gorgeous lingerie, stark black, lacy and barely there. He took her to bed and fucked her while she wore it, and she forgot, entirely, to be wary.
--
She didn't mean to get pregnant, no matter what Adam screamed at her. She didn't mean to get pregnant, but she was happy that she did; now Adam would have to leave his wife. They could get married and have their own little family, and she was happy about that. How could she help herself?
But he left her. He screamed at her and he left her, and she tried to call him but got his wife, and everything just imploded; she lost Adam and she lost any chance at marriage and...
Well, she had the baby. His last gift.
