Mystic Beach Blue 8: Graves
Author: Kat
Title: Graves
Story: In the Heart - Apocalyptic AU
Colors: Mystic beach blue 8 (this image)
Supplies and Materials: Graffiti (Lilith Fair Main Stage: Tombstone, Suzanne Vega, acrylic (Montana), stain ("Now, sir, there is only one place of horror and torment known to my religion; and that place is hell." - Keegan, John Bull’s Other Island, George Bernard Shaw), feathers ("I loved my friend/He went away from me/There’s nothing more to say/The poem ends,/Soft as it began-/I loved my friend." - Langston Hughes), glitter (parent), pastels (post-apocalyptic), eraser (Apocalyptic AU)
Word Count: 137
Rating: PG
Summary: Her only regret.
Warnings: Death by virulent disease.
Notes: This is my "if The Return of the Black Death was right" AU.
Most of the dead were burned, or buried in mass graves, but her family, no. Danny buried them individually.
Aaron helped, dry-eyed and tight-lipped with grief. Ivy and Gina in one grave, twined together. Nathan and Gail, hand in hand. Jake and Olivia; she found them slumped in the park, and buried them where they lay, under a tree. Lars--her throat closed over. She couldn't think about Lars.
Even less could she think about Michael. Aaron had to chip his name in the tombstone, one crooked letter at a time, because she was crying too hard to see.
It was almost over now. Her father's cabin was in sight. Her vision was blurring; chills chased fever down her spine. She was going to die soon.
She wouldn't be buried near Michael. That was her only regret.
