Bubblegum Pink #4, Ember #22, Fever Red #17
Name: shadowsong26
Story: Crowning
'Verse: Lux
Colors: Bubblegum Pink #4. Bubble Soap, Ember #22. Summer, Fever Red #17. water
Supplies and Materials: miniature, photography, fingerpainting (trying something with POV/tense here), canvas, oils, modeling clay, pastels (my current gen + romance card B3 "beliefs"), glue ("You roar with all the intent of the Lion or Lioness, but others may react to you now in ways you don't expect.")
Word Count:
Rating: G
Characters: Mariko
Warnings: Nope
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.
The summer she was four, Mariko was obsessed with bubbles. Gum, milk, soap, it didn't matter how, so long as there were bubbles.
There's a picture from that summer, where she's crowning herself Queen Of The Universe in the bathtub. If you tilt your head just right, you can see the light filtering through her soapy crown until the child begins to glow. Just for a second, you can almost believe the title.
Then it fades away to a picture of a so-solemn-she's-giggling little girl, crowned with nothing more than soap and make-believe and the knowledge that she is cherished.
