Tana stood on a hill overlooking the small port. "You're certain he's there?"

"I'm very good at what I do, sister," Keta answered mildly. "I haven't seen him personally, so there is an outside chance that I'm wrong, but it's a very small one."

She nodded. "I want to set fire to it when we leave," she announced. "Before we go restore Sorell to his rightful place."

She felt, rather than heard her sister sigh. "Burning the town won't do any good, and will delay us and make it likelier that--"

"They have to pay, Keta," Tana cut her off. "For taking my son from me. And for fighting against us in the war."

Keta was silent for a long moment. "He's in a clinic, being tended by the Mayor's wife," she finally said. "I should retrieve him. You may be recognized."

Tana had a knife out and at her sister's throat faster than blinking. "I love you, sister," she said, though it was almost a lie, "but I don't care how much you've done for us. No one takes my son from me. Not even you."

Her older sister remained still and calm, not reacting outwardly to the threat. "I was concerned for our continued liberty. You draw attention, and your face may be known."

"Shut up," Tana said, as even as she could, but she put her knife away. "We're going in together and that's final."

Keta bowed her head. "Very well."

Tana pressed on ahead, down the hill into Lester, looking only forward to her son and regaining her lost glory.

She never saw her sister's horror.

Tana has never been the most stable, but I think she's just getting worse over time. I find myself hoping she never finds her son.

Keta... you may want to rethink your plans here. A lot.
