Fara Edilion is a Virgon viper pilot originally aboard the Battlestar Draconis, callsign Maia. Having escaped the attack on the twelve colonies seven years ago, the battlestar went through a similar upheaval of whether or not to enact vengeance on the cylons or escape with their lives. The ship came across a powerful religious leader as they began their pursuit and side-line quest to rescue other humans, who appealed to the captain's moral judgment and... well, they went off in a different direction and discovered a somewhat liveable rock hidden much like New Caprica in a nebula cluster as they attempted to figure out what the frack they were doing.

They named the place Veayn (another play on 'new earth', like Avengaea is to Edilion's original planet name!') and decided that settling was their best option...

This AU takes place when a group of vipor pilots stumbles over something that threatens to tear apart the years of work that went into attempting to survive and forget the devastation of their colonies and the decimation of their past...

And... I just wanted to draw a picture of proper-age Fara looking badass! :D

I love this and want this to exist. I do suspect that the narrative would be endlessly trying to decide whether it was optimistic or desperately mean, though.

SOME OF ALL THE THINGS! There will be explosions because those just have to happen, and from there, who knows. Probably people fighting and bonding and fighting again. BSG all the things!

Thanks a bunch! My household has been marathoning the reimagined series for a while so I figure that if the Summer of Whump wants action, that's the closest source I have to draw from. (I'm just a little concerned because the only example of the Blockbuster seemed more like fan-fic with the author's characters included, and I don't know if I should be sticking closer to canon than borrowing the universe without getting right up in the Galactica-crew!)

If you are the kind of person who gets frustrated with not-quite-scientifically-accurate sci-fi, you may be disappointed as the show progresses as they move away from highlighting the cool universe as they get into other themes, however if you enjoy space operas, BSG is pretty supreme. It's like they took Star Trek's DS9 and stripped away the Prime Directive/Humanity's Improvement leash that caused that series to come across as campy or unrealistic at times.

I've heard really good things about the story, and I don't mind soft SF, so I'm pretty sure I'll love it. DS9 was my favorite Trek.

Which reminds me, I need to rewatch that sometime. Netflix is a wonderful thing.

Woah, you guys have DS9 on Netflix? I'm pretty sure last I checked there was only TNG (not that I'm complaining, but we'd just got the DVD set so it was kind of a kick in the pants!) DS9 is my favourite, too, though I know a lot of people who couldn't stand it. I just love the conflict that does surface and the way that it's resolved (or not) from time to time. There are a lot of eye-roll worthy moments in DS9 and I think that BSG manages to avoid those most of the time. It's very satisfying to follow the series from beginning to end!

It's cool to meet someone else who gets really excited about spaceship dramas. :3

It's all good! We managed to acquire the DS9 series some years ago and have kept it around to re-marathon every so often! (We were just into season 7 a few months ago but... eugh, Ezri and so forth.)

I had meant to do a bunch of writing while I was on vacation and only managed about a paragraph... but only because so many other wonderful things were happening!
