Bubblegum Pink #1, Ember #5, Fever Red #25
Name: shadowsong26
Story: Midsummer
'Verse: Feredar
Colors: Bubblegum Pink #1. Favorite Toy, Ember #5. Bonfire, Fever Red #25. aspirin
Supplies and Materials: photography, canvas (967 FY), stain, pastels (my current gen + romance card N4 "artistic endeavor"), novelty beads (300 words), glitter, glue ("You may scatter your energy today as you try to express yourself in innovative ways. Fortunately, you're able to get away with bending the rules now or even making up new ones as you go along. It feels exhilarating when everything falls perfectly into place and goes according to your plans")
Word Count: 300
Rating: PG
Characters: Lonura
Warnings: Nope
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always. Lonura is about five here. She pretty much only gets away with this because her father is the local lord.
It was Midsummer, which meant dancing and a big bonfire in the village square, and Mamma said she was finally big enough to go, but Lonura didn't like it very much. Everyone crowding around and very loud, and the fire was loudest of all. And the priest was talking and he was even boringer than usual, prob'ly 'cause it was s'posed to be only grown-ups here so he didn't have to try and make people pay attention.
Except then the dancing started.
And the music.
Lonura let go of Mamma's hand and tiptoed over to where they were playing, and saw a tanbur for the first time. It was just lying there, and it was almost as tall as her and shell, not wood, but it was pretty and it was vibrating just a little, and she put her hand on it and she knew.
She tentatively plucked a string and made a face when it sounded sour. She thought about just taking it away--they weren't using it--but Mamma would prob'ly make her put it back. So she sat down and pulled it into her lap, hugging it, and waited for the singers to be done.
She hadn't expected them to be mad she was hugging it when it was that perfect, so she ran to Daddy and started crying and then there was yelling but he was Daddy and even if he wasn't very happy with her, he got it sorted somehow.
Daddy had to pay them a lot a lot of money, but when they went back to the big house from the bonfire, Lonura, full of more glee than she thought could ever be, was still hugging the out-of-tune shell tanbur.

Nice use of different supply/material combos!

Yes. Though she does get a better, wood-body tanbur eventually, she always keeps this one close, for sentimental reasons.

Yes. Yes, he does. And Lonura knows Daddy will give it to her most of the time.
