Tam stood between him and the door, arms crossed, anger clear on her face. "This is ridiculous."

Mitchell adjusted his shoulder bag. "I'm not having this argument with you again. I've already made up my mind."

"Well un-make it! You're not going off to live with some human--"

"Tam..."

"--that you've known for three months!"

Mitchell scrubbed his face. "How many times -- I told you, I'm only moving to be closer the school, not to be with Harper. We're just friends. I did a little soul searching and this is the best--"

"Did you find one?" Tam snarled. Sparks flashed across her skin.

"I can't stay in this house!" Mitchell pulled her away from the door; he smirked at the shock on her face. "This is my decision Tamsin, not yours. I'm not staying here with--"

"With me?" Tam shook off his grip. "With your horrible overbearing sister who--"

With our mother's ghost. "With everything that was her! With... with every Ladyforsaken memory of Mom, okay? I can't. I won't."

Tamsin set her jaw. "Fine." She shoved the door open; it slammed against its hinges. "Go live with your human boyfriend and your human university and your human life. Go ahead. Walk out this door and never come back!"

They stared at each other; Mitchell waited for her to take it back, to apologize, to tell him... something. Anything.

She only glared at him, her magic barely suppressed, heat pouring off her.

"Fine," he said. "Goodbye, Tam."

And he walked through the door.

I sympathize with both of them here, because I think behind Tam's anger might be some fear of her own, of Mitchell just running away and leaving her behind. On the other hand, Mitchell needs to do what he needs to do.

No wonder Mitch won't call his sister, if this is the last conversation they had. Ouch. I can just feel the hurt and anger seething off both of them.
