Cream Saturation with Iceberg 2: Save You
Author: Kat
Title: Save You
Story: Shine Like It Does
Colors: Cream saturation, iceberg 2 (ice) with geena's paint by numbers (An enigma wrapped in a mystery/Or a fool consumed by fear).
Supplies and Materials: Miniature collection, graffiti, pointillism, glitter ("There are certain people who are not meant to fit in your life, no matter how much you want them to." – From Dawson’s Creek).
Word Count: 347
Rating: PG-13.
Summary: Miranda has to save him.
Warnings: none.
Notes: He also says "purrrrr." This might not actually count as graffiti because it doesn't meet the wordcount? Other mod thoughts?
1. skim milk
Some days she skims through life, barely touching the surface, flying over the troubles and the joys that she cannot be a part of, not without breaking her heart.
2. whole milk
Some days she is completely present, completely in her skin—it happens most often around her mother and father, brother and sister, and it terrifies her when she realizes it's happening more often around Peter.
3. heavy cream
She can't help it, can't help herself; she takes on the troubles of those she loves and she fights for them, bears their burdens for them, because she is stronger than they are, and less worthy.
4. clotted cream
Who is she, after all, but a woman born to do the things that others will not, to hide her wounds because she may not have them?
5. cream cheese
She is very good at hiding those wounds, at keeping her expression clear as day, smooth as cream, opaque as both so no one can see beneath.
6. sour cream
She knows they see the sourness, the bitterness she feels sometimes, but that's all right, because she lets them see that, lets them think worse of her, because then she need not do terrible things, only bad ones.
7. cheddar
She is sharp, of course, of mind and wit and tongue, because that is the only way for a woman to survive in this world when she has chosen the path Miranda has.
8. Parmesan
She can't relax, she won't let herself, but Peter is worming his way in and she doesn't know how to stop it, doesn't know how to protect him from herself, to keep him from being shredded on her sharp edges.
9. brie
He isn't from her world, the glittering, dangerous round of high society where sweet soft voices cover vicious words, and she will not drag him into it, will not let him become like her.
10. goat cheese
She is stubborn, she knows this, but she isn't sure yet if she's stubborn enough to save him.
