There are days when Kirana is grateful for the pools in the temple courtyards. Not because she can't control the visions--barring emergencies, she's done that for years.

But sometimes, when she's scried for hours, or seen several emergencies, she just needs a break. A moment, to rest her eyes and mind, on cool water where she is normal, and only the present exists for her. Sometimes she processes what she's seen, sometimes she watches her reflection and lets her mind drift.

She doesn't go there often, but even when she doesn't need them, she's profoundly grateful for the pools.
