Sulphur #14, Sienna #14
Name: shadowsong26
Story: Present
'Verse: Feredar
Colors: Sulphur #14. Idol, Sienna #14. commercialism
Supplies and Materials: canvas (965 FY), pastels (my current gen card B1 market), brush (winsome), stain
Word Count: 205
Rating: G
Characters: Mel Artwick
Warnings: None
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.
Mel thought he spotted something, and dropped Mommy's hand and darted over to the stall with the shiny things. He stood up as high as he could, trying to decide if the allowance he'd saved up for the past three weeks was enough to get the little red-and-gold birdie. It looked like a eagle, and Kit was with Uncle on the Scarlet Eagle, and he was going to be home for his birthday next week, so it was perfect.
"How much is that, please?" he asked, when he finally managed to get the shopkeeper's attention.
"Three copper pieces."
Which meant it was probably wood inside, and just painted not really enameled or anything, but it was still shiny and a birdie and in the right colors. And, best of all, Mel had enough money for it. "I want it." He dumped the coins on the counter.
The shopkeeper smiled at him, and put the birdie into a bag. "Here you are, son."
"Thank you!" Mel said, then looked around, and grinned himself when he saw Mommy was still looking at the lace, just like he thought she would be. He thanked the shopkeeper again, then darted back across the row and claimed her hand again.
